Dairy Downer

It’s like they know what I want to know!

Following yesterday’s discussion of whether “humane” meat, dairy and eggs are possible, Free From Harm sent me (and everyone else on their mailing list) a slideshow on the dairy industry. Granted, this focuses on factory-farm dairies. But some things are inevitable in the dairy industry, whether the cows are factory-farmed or family-farmed in the most humane way possible (like the slaughter of male calves).

Anyhow, here is the slideshow, which only helps get me past my desire for Half And Half in my coffee.

  1. So gross to make Rennet . When I was a Vegetarian at first, when I was transitioning into a Vegan and learning about the humane side of the Dairy thing this just made gag. But I mean there are some areas some farms that are humane that do offer better lives. That are better then Factory Farms, Better then battery cages. Actually allowing freedom. With cows allowing them to be in pastures and not pumping them full of hormones and drugs what have you. There is a humane way a better way but I think I will remain a Vegan the rest of my life. I would prefer everyone be vegan of course that would be the best. If not cause I know they won’t. I would like people to you know buy food humanely. Not buy food mass produced because nine times out of ten you will get food mass produced and you will get e.coli or something worse. So it is better to buy humane food or organic. Better yet vegan. 😉 Hehe. I love these posts.
